Cooperstown
The Otesaga blends perfectly with the Village of Cooperstown
a culturally rich repository of Americana combining natural
beauty with an unhurried pace. Founded in 1786 by William
Cooper,
father of novelist James Fenimore Cooper, Cooperstown offers
one-of-a-kind attractions, such as The
National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum,
Fenimore Art Museum and The
Farmers' Museum, all of which may be used in conjunction
with group events held at The Otesaga. The Hotel's Meetings'
Director will
coordinate your customized arrangements to
suit a broad range of needs.
Meetings participants can play a game of baseball on Cooperstown's
legendary Doubleday Field, located a block from The Hall of
Fame and featured in the Hollywood film A League Of Their
Own.
Legend has it that one day in 1839, Abner Doubleday chased
the cows off Elihu Phinney's pasture in Cooperstown, laid
out a
simple diamond, and thus transformed the rural game of town
ball into a national obsession known as baseball. A game played
in this old-style ballpark, on the site where Elihu Phinney's
cow pasture once stood, is sure to be a memorable one. |
